Through the medium of bronze sculpture, Judy conveys her
feelings of pleasure and empathy for both wildlife and domestic
animals. She often depicts animals interacting with people
by drawing on a lifetime of ranch life experiences in West
Texas.
Judy
studied art at Texas Tech University while earning her degree
in landscape architecture. She has acquired a foundation in
sculpture by studying sculpture with Garland Weeks, George
Lundeen, Lincoln Fox, Ken Bunn, Ed Fraughton, Jon Zahourek,
Fritz white, Richard McDonald, Ned Jacob, Tuck Langland, and
Eugene Daub. She has also lived in San Miguel de Allende,
Mexico, in order to study with sculptor Lothar Kastenbaum.
After
living and working for several years in the sculpture community
of Loveland Colorado, Judy now maintains a studio in Kerrville,
Texas, where she lives with her husband, Tony Hall.
Judy's
work has been exhibited in Society of Animal Artists, Witte
Museum, San Antonio, Texas, Sculpture In The Park, Loveland,
Colorado, 1992-2000, and the Western Regional Show, Cheyenne,
Wyoming just to name a few. Judy has also taken home a number
of awards and honors including Best Bronze, Western Regional,
Cheyenne, Wyoming and the Doris B. Rosser Award for Sculpture,
Bosque County Conservatory of Fine Art, Clifton, Texas.
Judy
Black is a member of the Texas Society of Sculptors, Society
of Animal Artists and the Texas Certified Landscape Architects.
